Quality Innovations: Quality Systems Made Simple

About Us

Quality Innovations was established in 1996 based on a need for knowledge relating to the implementation of quality management systems. Mike Gospodinsky is the founder of the company.

In 1993 the QS 9000 standard was published by the big three auto makers, Ford, Chrysler and General Motors. Prior to this all three were using independent supplier quality system requirements and in an effort to unify and utilize a third party auditing scheme, they published this standard.

consulting services

Since then, Quality Innovations has provided consulting services for the TS 16949 standard, AS 9100 version B,C and D as well as the newer IATF 16949 standard.

Initially in the United States

Initially in the United States, ISO 9001 saw minimal implementation. It was much more popular in Europe or with companies doing business in Europe. QS 9000 resulted in a need for tens of thousands of companies to become certified.

At the time, Mike was instrumental in implementing and achieving the certification at the tier one automotive supplier for which he was employed. In an effort to fulfill the mounting need for consultants, Mike started Quality Innovations in Wadsworth Ohio. The first four years were spend focusing on QS 9000 with some work involving ISO 9001.

Quality Innovations

Quality Innovations has been involved in many revolutionary quality system designs. In 1996, we began the use of a browser based quality system which operated like a well designed web site. A similar system was implemented down to the employee level at a large Oscar Mayer plant in order to provide access to all forms and procedures at the workplace. We have also participated in customized software and database development in order to make quality systems more efficient.

Michael Gospodinsky founded Quality Innovations in 1996 based on a strong background in management systems and a need in the industry.

Mike has a BS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology as well as a Masters in Technology from Kent State University.

Mike received his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in 2019, his dissertation topic was “Best Practices for Remote System Audits”.

Mike began his career as a product development engineer for Luk Incorporated in Wooster Ohio in 1985. His initial role involved reliability engineering, warranty analysis and design development. He was responsible for the test laboratory and conducted in vehicle performance tests in order to dial in key design parameters.

Based on a strong background in product performance, designed experiments and laboratory systems, Mike was moved to the quality department not knowing what the future would hold. Mike became the designated audit contact for the four primary customers, Ford, Chrysler, GM and BMW. Through trial and error, he developed a quality system to meet all of the requirements. He also passed the ASQ CQE Certified Quality Engineer exam.

in 1990 Mike Left LuK for a position as the Corporate Quality Manager for a rubber and plastics company based out of Cleveland Ohio Robin Industries. Mike lead Robin to the Ford Q1 and GM Targets for Excellence for several divisions. At that time, ISO 9001 was only a few years old and had not become popular in the US. Mike used the ISO 9001 model to build a quality system which met the automotive, medical, military and aerospace industries, of which Robin served. As the corporate manager, Mike supervised Quality management within each of the 7 facilities and aided with audits as well as customer issues.

In 1993, Mike returned to LuK as the Purchasing Manager, responsible for supplier development and contact negotiations. He became a certified Lead Assessor for ISO 9001 in 1994. Eventually Mike took over the quality department as well and helped lead LuK to QS 9000 certification.

In 1996, while still working at LuK, Mike started Quality Innovations. He worked part time for several months until he could hire his replacement, who remains in this position at LuK. In late 1996 Mike struck out on his own and at the same time became a certified lead assessor for QS-9000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 as well as an RAB certified lead assessor.

Mike is also a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a Certified Project Manager.

Mike is the only full time employee of Quality Innovations, we will occasionally subcontract work but we feel it is important that you get the best experience each time, rather than someone with less experience..
